Evie's Poem

Created by Anthony 25 days ago
The day God called you,
my heart broke in two,
No more hearing those familiar words
The names that we both knew.

You used to call me Charlie,
I’m actually not sure why,
We shared so many little jokes
A special bond, just you and I.

You taught me so much Grandad,
To do my best in everything I do
You were forever saying how proud of us you were
And I’m so proud you’re my Grandad too.

I will miss the holidays we had
You always told us to go and have fun,
You were always there waiting for me,
And would listen to all that I’d done.

Such funny and beautiful memories I have of you
how you loved to cook hearts for dinner,
And the funny face you made eating sorbet,
squeezing your cheeks to make you look thinner.
You always had your big hanky,
You loved to dance while still sitting in your chair
Because your legs weren’t as good as they used to be.
Life can be so unfair..

But you loved your food and were a fabulous cook
Your figure was testament to this.
But you needed a tummy the size of yours
When your heart is as big as it is.

You loved your dogs so very much
Margot wonders where you can be,
But now you’ve crossed the rainbow bridge
Please give Mico a hug from me.

I wish I could rewind the clock
Or make it turn really slow
And have hugged you just one more last time
Before you had to go.

Why couldn’t God have waited
And let you stay with me
I will remember you forevever,
In my heart you’ll always be

If you could hear me now Granddad
I know what you would mutter
“Don’t cry Charlie. I love you”
And I love you too, Grandad Butter.
